Laurie-the-mail-lady just backed her truck into our driveway to deliver the first 200 copies of Treasure in Jekyll, Gem of the Golden Isles Series Book Two. And it looks amazing!
I’m also excited to announce two book signings this week.
The first one should appeal to my local friends – Jekyll Market is hosting a Sip’n’Sign from 4-6 pm on Thursday. They’re kind enough to have me back again on Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm, so if you happen to be taking advantage of the last weekend of summer before your kids go back to school, come get an ice cream cone and get my newest book. I’m excited to meet more readers!
I spent this morning over at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel meeting with Nicole, the fabulous woman who has the misfortune to be coordinating our 20th anniversary party there on Labor Day weekend. She’s a hoot and had some fabulous ideas that I’m planning to incorporate. I can’t tell you too much about it because you haven’t read Book 3 yet and I might have used some of the details in my own party planning. If you’re a guest at my party, you should totally read the book before you come and then you can see how many crossover details you catch.
Life is good, my friends. The biggest problem in my life right now is that I really can’t sit down to finish writing Book 4 until I get all my housekeeping chores finished. The bookshelf hasn’t progressed since my last blog and I have to tackle that. I sorted through five boxes of pictures and office supplies from my mom’s house yesterday and I’ve got about three more to go before my office looks like an office instead of a storage unit.
Dalton, one of our sweet contractors, is coming over on Thursday to hang the big TV in the game room. He’s also going to hang some mirrors and shelves and other complicated things that take two people. I can’t help with anything yet because of my shoulder. But before Dalton arrives, I must do the great basket sort so he can get to the fireplace. My mother always bought me baskets. I’ve bought a few on my own. Now they’re all together in a giant pile and I have to figure out what goes where, what should stay, what should go, and if there’s anything I can repurpose.
There’s also a pile of boxes containing “craft supplies” stacked in front of the fireplace where the TV will hang. I put the term in quotes because there’s everything from glue guns to glass paint to embroidery floss in there, along with sewing kits, half-finished knitting projects, and a bunch of other things I’ve likely forgotten about. Of course, this begs the question, if I haven’t needed or used it in forever, do I really need to keep it?
I’m not a hoarder, but I did pick up some bad habits living on Vieques. When you live on an island seven miles off the coast of yet another island, you get picky about what you store and keep because you really don’t know when you can get another item just like whatever it is. Now, I live in civilization. While Jekyll is also an island, it has a causeway that leads to a Hobby Lobby and Michaels. I need to get over myself.
As I’ve said before, I’d much prefer to write all day long. But unfortunately, there’s housekeeping to do before I can be creative. You can get signed copies of my books directly from me by clicking here and ordering today. If you’re here in the Golden Isles, come see me at Jekyll Market on Thursday or Saturday.
Until next time, happy reading!
Sandy
