Hey everybody!
I’m excited to announce that my newest book, “Christmas on Jekyll,” the Gem of the Golden Isles Series Book Five, will be released at 3 pm on Black Friday at a special launch event in the Pulitzer Room at the historic Jekyll Island Club Resort.
This was a fun book to write, but it opened a can of worms I wasn’t expecting in the arts world. Sometimes, using a friend’s biographical information in a fictional book is a dangerous proposition.
In this case, asking my girlfriend, Emily Hendrix Slaughter, if she was okay with me writing about her late father put in motion a series of events that led to the upcoming launch of a new non-profit organization with a focus on bringing arts events to Jekyll Island. The Society for the Preservation of the Arts on Jekyll (SEAJekyll) has a lot of exciting things about it, and I can’t wait to be able to tell you more about we announce it to the local community with longtime resident and business owner, Leigh Baumann, on Nov. 28th.
If you’re still reading this, mark your calendar for the big launch and join us at the Jekyll Club on Black Friday. They’re also going to be hosting a unique holiday market featuring posh vendors with great deals for holiday shoppers. You can get a signed, personalized copy of “Christmas on Jekyll,” check out the hidden cache of Bill Hendrix paintings, and finish up holiday shopping while you’re at it. There’s a rumor we’ll have cake and other yummy things at the celebration.
I’ve just updated my Upcoming Appearances page on my website, and I’m going to try to keep the calendar updated because I’d hate to do a booksigning where nobody came. Worst nightmare! Follow me on all my social media channels for updates and what I’m up to and where I’ll be when. I’ll be vlogging a whole trip for the first time and we’re bound to film some funny exchanges with my cop husband.
Bill and I are leaving on our cross-country road trip to Author Nation in Las Vegas on Oct. 24 and I’ll be posting videos from the trip along the way. I can’t wait to meet James Patterson – he’s the keynote speaker. If you’re an author or a serial reader, this Las Vegas event would be spectacular for you. Reader Nation (Nov. 7) tickets are free! And tickets to Author Nation are still available here.
I hope to see some of you at my upcoming events – let me know that you found the info on my website!
Until next time, happy reading! Now go pre-order the eBook of “Christmas on Jekyll” – here’s the link for Amazon. Pre-orders for paperbacks there, and on my website, will be live in the next few days. Wheeeeee!
Sandy
